As the name suggests, Double Grind Mulch is produced by giving a wood mulch material two passes through a grinder. The result is a more fine-grained mulch which compacts more easily than regular thickness mulch, giving double grind more staying power to resist washing away in heavy rain, blowing away in a windy location, or sliding down a slanted planting bed.
Double Grind can also add to soil quality more readily, because the finer material will break down and become part of the soil more readily than coarse ground material. Although double grind provides a distinctly different look than coarse hardwood mulch, it provides all of the same benefits of sun protection, moisture retention, weed suppression and soil improvement.
